Bringing Puppy Home

This is tougher than I imagined. Everything said in the book somehow doesn't work and I can't remember a single thing. Before we bring Pepper (our puppy) home, we went to do some shopping. We bought the following:

• Bowl for food
• Food (Eukanuba - Puppy all breed)
• Steel comb to remove entangled hair
• Normal comb
• Water nozzle
• Play pen (8 pieces)
• Bed
• Potty pad
• Toys, we do not know what to buy so we picked a few. We shouldn't get too big toy for puppy
• Treats, we are thinking to use this to calm him down if necessary and also for training
• Fan (on the floor)
• Kong ball, we are not too sure how to use them yet

The list above is considered basic.

During the road trip back from Penang to KL. Pepper vomited because this is his first car trip but it wasn't too bad. The absorbent pad inside the traveling crate helps.

After 5 hours of road trip, finally we are home. Pepper is very stress about this new environment. Pepper is about 16 weeks now. How I wish I could bring him home during ~8 weeks period when he is not too bounded with his litter-mates. When he arrives the new home, he is trying to play with his mirror image. He is so poor thing, he missed his litter-mates. Pepper is not a dog who is used to be alone. I will need to spend more time to train him. During the first night, I can't afford to leave him alone in this crate because he can't stop barking. At the end, I slept next to the crate. Maybe this is something I should not do but I can't afford the bark because I am staying in a condominium.

Today is the second day. It seems like a really long day. Pepper has around 10x potty accidents but I just have to clean up and slowly train him. You really need a lot of love, patience and commitment to be a dog owner. At this moment, when I am not around, Pepper will bark and whine. I realised that Pepper will bark for 2 reasons. Loneliness and separation anxiety. I am still trying to deal with it now. Hopefully in my next blog, I can share my method of solving this problem.
